March 22nd is going to be a big day for Ubisoft, on that day they will debut not 1 but 2 different boxed trilogies. On the one hand they will release Prince of Persia Trilogy HD. Now re-mastered in High Definition are three classic Prince Of Persia titles, exclusively for the PS3. Digitally enhanced HD and 3D graphics heighten the experience of adventure and improve overall gameplay. Included are Prince of Persia: The Sands Of Time, Prince of Persia: Warrior Within and Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones all in HD.

Europe already got it, we in North America were given the Prince of Persia Sand Trilogy via digital download, but we might be seeing a disc version on this side of the Atlantic. A product listing on GameFly leads us to believe that a disc version of the Prince of Persia HD Collection is coming on March 22nd. Considering that disc copies exist in Europe, pressing North American copies would not be that difficult for Ubisoft.

This is still very much just a rumor but hopefully we’ll hear something from UbiSoft really soon. [SOURCE]

Worth rewinding time for?

Once upon a time, Ubisoft released a game called Prince of Persia: Sands of Time and everybody loved it. Or at least, everyone who played it did, though that wasn't nearly as many people as Ubisoft would have liked, apparently. And so begins the story of the PS2-era Prince of Persia trilogy, now given a fresh lick of hi-def paint and a new, conveniently-downloadable form factor (unless you want to buy it on one of those old-fangled things from the shops).

Yes, Prince of Persia Trilogy: HD Collection has finally reached Europe, where it languishes seductively on store shelves and the PlayStation Network. And what do we make of this most recent 'remastering'? Well, it's something of a mixed bag, truth be told, with lacklustre presentation the biggest bugbear in this otherwise generous package.

Things don't start off too promisingly, with Sands of Time - the first and most beloved entry in the series - bursting forth onto the screen in a mix of razor-sharp upscaled polygons and a smeary mess of lo-res interface elements. Sure, it's easy to bemoan what's clearly a budget release on Ubisoft's part, but it's hard not to be slightly disappointed when even the game's title screen logo is a barely comprehensible smudge of pixels closely resembling something Pac-Man might puke up after a night on the tiles.

In a stealth announcement, Ubisoft’s revealed that The Prince of Perisa Trilogy, previously announced as a Blu-ray offering in Europe, is destined for a North American PSN release.

In fact, Prince of Persia The Sands of Time, the first installment, hits the service today. Not a mere port, it has been given a complete overhaul in the visual department, boasting sharp 720p renders with added 3D effects for those with a capable television.

Prince of Persia Warrior Within and Prince of Persia The Two Thrones, the remaining chapters to this time-rewinding trilogy, are scheduled to drop in a similarly staggered fashion “sometime in December.” Each title will carry a price point of $14.99, featuring the same enhancements as in Sands of Time. Splinter Cell remakes also coming.

The Prince of Persia Trilogy HD scheduled to ship exclusively in Europe of a PlayStation 3 Blu-ray disc is also coming to PlayStation Network as individual titles.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones, and Prince of Persia: Warrior Within will be available for download on PSN this coming holiday. Pricing details were not announced.

CEO Yves Guillemot also confirmed on the publisher's earnings call this morning it will release HD remakes of the first three Splinter Cell titles, but did not provide further details.  Ubisoft previously announced it will release a remake of the original Beyond Good & Evil in 2011. [SOURCE]
